I went to TAWARAYA RYOKAN in KYOTO.
This Inn is known as No.1 inn in Japan,
and Steve Jobs loves this Inn.
Originally, a business man who sold KIMONO
(KIMONO is japanese traditional clothes）,
he came from SHIMANE prefecture,
he always have SAMURAI who came from SHIMANE
stay in his house in kyoto with OMOTENASHI.
gradually, the service had a good reputation.
finally, he change his job.
that’s why TAWARAYA RYOKAN has begun !
Famous person who stays at TAWARAYA are many.
Steve Jobs,Steven Spielberg,Sir Alfred Hitchcock,
Hirofumi Ito,a first prime minister in Japan,
mito tokugawa SHOGUN, and so on..
Why is TAWARAYA RYOKAN as No.1 in Japan ?
Because that’s why OMOTENASHI.
OMOTENASHI is japanese style service.
we expected this inn was very formal,
because this inn had history and very expensive.
but,in fact,they were very friendly and had very good balance.
not so friendly,but not so unfriendly.
if you need something,they serve it,
if you dont want to bother,they don’t bother.
At first, you come in the gate of this Inn,
a door man a little bit run, 2 or 3 steps forward,and he guide you.
and then, you come into your room,another one comes,
and sit down, makes a bow,her fore head on the floor.
the way her moves was very beautiful!
i was feeling like “TONOSAMA”,it is SAMURAI KING.
When she came to the room,i was wearing clothes,
so i said ” please wait ! “.she said ” Ohhh !! im sorry !! “.
it sound like that she almost was killed because of mistake..
anyway, TAWARAYA policy that I felt wasnever bother guest.
Most of expensive Inns don’t accept children.
but TAWARAYA is OK.
the correspondence to child was like as successor.
when i was walking corridor with kid,
every staff stopped walking and deeply bow,
and sometimes they sat down,and told to my son,
” Oh, good looking boy ! “
when i took pictures of tree at patio of TAWARAYA,
A staff came to me, and he gave me an advice,
“this angle is better, you can see the red plam too!”
Not too much service,but they know a good sense of distance,
This is OMOTENASHI of TAWARAYA.
Besides OMOTENASHI,furnishings are historical first quality.

it looks the style of KYOTO.the opposite side is “HIIRAGIYA”,
it is very famous RYOKAN too.and you can see “SUMIYA”, the
another RYOKAN.
thse three RYOKAN are the KYOTO RYOKAN best 3.
the entrance is very simple.but there is a personality.
“TAWARA” means the package or rice.
so the there is a drawing of tawara in the lamp of entrance.
it looks cool !
in the entrance. very narrow corridor and corner.
a few steps of you, a door man guide you with a litte bit run.
and you can see some staff are waiting for you with standing.
the slope to entrance with beauty stone floor.
the entrance made by using several different type of stones.
it looks natural and don’t look uniform.it is good design !
We can feel May because of the plant.
the red plam is pretty.
